Summer is here and with it the sun and the desire to stay outdoors and spend time with friends and family. Most importantly, it’s also the time for BBQ’s, al fresco dining and entertaining, and you need to do it in style. Today we’ll give you some tips on how to set and decorate your summer table, just a few details to turn your outdoor events into fragrant and colourful moments your guests won’t easily forget.
First at all, use colour, and I really mean it: yellow, orange, light blue and green… Don’t be afraid to combine complementary colours, I can assure you that the result will be amazing!
Once you choose your primary colour, you can give it the leading role with a tablecloth, or you can use it for the details such as napkins, place holders, candles or centrepiece.
This is the season of Nature, so the best way is to celebrate it on the table. Flowers are a must, placed the middle of the table in a beautiful and decorative vase or in tin cans, an original idea for a rustic look. Flowers can also be used to create elegant and fragrant placeholders, which can be combined with herbs or a twist of chillies for a unique Mediterranean touch. Fruit in the summer comes in all colours and shapes and so why not use it to creatively decorate the table, from lemons to watermelons and pineapples? And if you want to transport your guests to the beach and add a nautical element to the occasion, you can use some of those shells collected during your exotic trips.
If your table is in wood or stone, you might decide to leave it as it is to highlight its material, or you may want to partly cover it with colourful runners or placemats in straw or lace.
Candles are a must-have for every event, they add warmth to any place (literally!) and their scent seamlessly blend with the fragrance of summer around us. You can play to invent and create all kinds of candle holders, or you might hang lanterns from the branches of a tree in the garden and create a more romantic and enchanted atmosphere.
These are just some simple tips on how to decorate the perfect summer table, the real secret is to surrender to your imagination and follow your senses and the result will be a dinner with an impeccable taste.
