Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and if you still haven’t decided what to do, we at Luxxdesign.com have a few ideas to share on how to prepare the perfect evening at home.
Forget busy restaurants serving the usual Valentine’s Day menus, why not just stay at home? All you need are a few tricks to make your evening special and unforgettable. A table set with special attention, some candles, a nice and sexy dress and a luscious menu prepared by you.
Let’s start from the menu itself, and some original ideas to create a dinner that is delicate and full of flavours.
First, the aperitif. Forget the traditional cocktails and try the unusual one with raspberry and chocolate, a truly tasty and delicious drink, very simple to prepare. Try this recipe from Delish.com for a cocktail that won’t disappoint.
For starter, an absolute must: oysters, served as you like them, with lemon, salt or tabasco. For the main you could prepare Shrimp soup, a delicate and tasty dish that will delight your loved one (and yourself!), followed by Lobster salad with citrus, a stunning recipe ready in minutes, to be served with a side of artichoke salad, a healthy and easy recipe with a unique and refined taste.
Last but not least, the classic chocolate crepes, a traditional dessert that always manages to wow guests.
Don’t forget the wine. White of course, perfect for fish and seafood. For dessert, it has to be Italian classic sparkling wines like the usual Prosecco, or Italy’s next big thing, the champagne-like Franciacorta bubbly, or Moscato, the sweet, gently sparkling wine typical of Piemonte region. For ideas on what wine to buy, you can ready this very useful guide by Serious Eats.

We can now turn on the table setting, which has to be romantic but not too cheesy and elegant enough to complement the food. Colour par excellence of this event is clearly red, symbol of love and passion usually combined with a neutral colour such as white.
But why not do something more original and break the rules? Look at the photos below for great ideas on how to prepare the perfect table for your Valentine’s at home.

And finally, the last details. An elegant vase to be filled with fresh red roses, symbol of Valentine’s Day and love everywhere in the world. Or a simple home accessory to add a romantic atmosphere to your home, like a candle to fill the room with its gentle fragrance.
