Today we are sitting down with Luca Prandelli, export manager at Mepra.
Q. Where is Mepra today?
We always put quality and design first, thus providing our clients with top products. Thanks to this, Mepra is today recognised as one of the best Italian brands of excellence in its market. Our clients include the best design stores, interior shops and department stores in the world such as Barney’s New York and Rinascente in Italy.
Q. How do you choose designers to work with you? Do you have in-house designers too?
We always strived to find a compromise between collaborating with some of the best designers in the indutry, above all Architect Angelo Mangiarotti, and taking a gamble with younger designers, maybe less well known but full of original ideas. Some of these talents have been hired by Mepra and have been working with us for years.
Q. What is the biggest market for your brand outside Italy?
Mepra is sold in more than 60 countries worldwide. Our biggest markets are Europe, Russia, the Middle East and United States.
Q. What led you to develop your premium line Luxury Art by Mepra?
The Luxury Art collection was designed to cater to our most important and clients. Over the years, we have supplied among others the homes of some of the most renown fashion designers, luxury yachts, hotels and exclusive events for Middle Eastern Royal families.
Q. How has your business changed with the evolution of e-commerce?
E-commerce today is a necessity, it allows to reach more and more customers and to offer a 360-degree service by making our products available to people who have little time or live in remote places.
Q. What are your best-selling products or the ones you are most recognized for?
One of our main best-sellers is the Ergonomica cutlery range designed by Architect Angelo Mangiarotti, characterised by hollow handles.
The Gold, Black Gold and Bronze collections are also among our best sellers. Mepra was actually the first manufacturer to use PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) finish on stainless steel.
Another best-selling product is the Fantasia cutlery range, available in more than 40 colours and valued because of its extremely high quality – 18/10 stainless steel and handles in plastic and fibreglass and welded with ultrasound to keep to guarantee a long-lasting colour and handle quality.
Q. If you had to choose one product from the catalogue, which one would it be and why?
It would have to be Attiva pots and pans collection. The technology behind it is impressive, and creates the so-called oven effect, which allows everyone to cook easily like a chef. At the same time, the sleek design is typical of the best Made in Italy style. A true cooking icon.
